Tom Terbrock: “Man of the Year, 2007″

I know that, in general, personal interviews read like mini bio’s and show one side of the person interviewed that fits the need of the interviewer. In fact, when I first heard about Tom Terbrock, it was from my friend, Chris, who had heard Tom’s story of weight loss on the radio while listening to the Dave Glover Show, which is the top afternoon award winning show, heard weekdays from 4- 7pm on 97.1 FM TALK, where Tom is the Executive Producer and Sidekick to his buddy Dave Glover. Tom, a.k.a. Real Rock Terbrock, can also be heard on his show Monday Night Metal, Tuesdays from 9pm-12 on KSHE 95.I thought it’d be a great story to tell on here; however, after I sat down for my first interview with Tom, I realized that this was more than just a story of weight-loss success; his is a multi-faceted story of a kind-hearted man whom has recently met success in many areas of his life, his tireless journey, and the strength that guides him.

When I first contacted Tom on the phone, his business-like demeanor did not prepare me for the man I was scheduled to meet. I arrived to the station and was greeted with the friendliest “hello” from Tom. We went to a conference room for the interview and as we talked and laughed, I felt as if I was hanging out with an old friend rather than someone I had just met.Okay, maybe it sounds like I am gushing over Tom, but if you ever have the opportunity to spend just five minutes in his presence you’ll feel the same.

Over the next few months, I will be writing about and following Tom’s weight-loss and its positive effects on his diabetes, his career, and personal life.
