Is Staph Bacteria Lurking At Your Gym?

You’ve seen those spray bottles next to the equipment at your gym, right? Well, if you think that it is only to clean the sweat off of the equipment, before or after you use it, you’re only half right.

There is a strain of staph bacteria that has become drug resistant and it could quite possibly be lurking at your favorite gym; on the equipment, in the shower stalls, and even on the water fountain.

Don’t let this be an excuse to stop going to the gym though because by just using a few common sense actions, you can greatly reduce your chances of picking up this little bug.

1. Wash your hands before and after working out.

2. Spray the equipment before and after use…at the very least, before you use it, but common courtesy allows for both.

3. Wear flip-flops in the shower no matter how clean it looks…and please write us if you have a gym that provides sparkling clean showers. We have yet to come across one.

4. Sit on a clean towel in the locker room and always use clean towels to dry off.

See, just a few easy steps to take to help keep you healthy. If you’d like to read more stories about this malicious new staph strain, follow the links below.
